Pak’nSave Rangiora is one of 11 South Island stores rolling out the SHOP’nGO personal shopping device this year.
It goes live at the Rangiora supermarket on Monday, July 6.
Pak’nSave Rangiora owner-operator James Flanagan said it is excited to offer customers the new innovative device, which helps them budget while they shop.
“By scanning their grocery items as they go, customers can easily keep track of their budget, all while saving time at checkout.
“Customers will no longer have to unpack their trolley, rather they just scan the device and pay at one of the designated SHOP’nGO self- checkouts.
“We’re confident customers will adopt the new technology quickly.”
The SHOP’nGO barcode technology gives customers a more convenient and personalised shopping solution, speeding up their time spent in store, he said.
Pak’nSave’s group manager for Foodstuffs South Island, Justin Waddell, said by leveraging new technologies that enable customers to have a more seamless experience in store, the overall shopping experience can be refined.
It was trialled at Pak’nSave Wainoni in 2019, and the store is now processing 18 per cent of all its sales through SHOP’nGO.
“The customer feedback following the SHOP’nGO trial at Pak’nSave Wainoni has been very positive and we’re excited to offer the SHOP’nGO solution at more stores for more customers to use and enjoy,” said Waddell.
The barcode-scanning tool allows customers to scan each product which shows a running total of how much they have spent, giving them more control over monitoring their budget in store.
SHOP’nGO also speeds up the time spent at checkout. Customers scan a QR code on their SHOP’nGO screen at the designated SHOP’nGO self-checkout lanes, prompting payment at the eftpos terminal.
With SHOP’nGO, there is no unloading or loading of groceries on to the conveyor belt or back into the trolley. Customers just pack their groceries into their bags in their trolley as they shop, pay and go.
To use the SHOP’nGO devices, customers will first need to pick up a Sticky Club card in-store and register with the Sticky Club loyalty programme. Once signed up, they can use SHOP’nGO at all participating stores.
SHOP’nGO is already live in Christchurch at Pak’nSave Wainoni, Moorhouse and Northlands, and will roll out to Pak’nSave Hornby and Riccarton later this year.
