Amberley residents won’t recognise the 15.5 hectare Amberley Country Estate retirement development in a year, says Property developer Tim Bartells of Bartells Group.

‘‘Compared to what others do, we have gone the extra mile with Amberley, and welcome anyone interested to come along and see what we have planned for this luxury resort for our residents.’’

On Saturday March 25, the public can visit to see how far work on the new Amberley Country Estate retirement village has progressed, at an open day.

Visitors will have the opportunity to talk with the developers about the lifestyle village for retirees.

It will also be a chance for Village manager Hamish Lamont to show off the newly completed 330m2 village club house and its newest addition - a 40m2 alfresco spa pool area.

‘‘The clubhouse is an integral part of the development as it stands today.

‘‘It features a number of communal areas with a pool table and bar for regular happy hours, a library, gym and of course a new spa pool.’’

Hamish says having a club house so handy to the homes helps the incoming residents make new friends, and serves as a venue for existing residents to develop relationships within the ‘community within a community’ in Amberley.

‘‘It will be here in its current form until at least stage four when the permanent $9 million, 1500sqm Residents Facility Centre, is constructed. That will be nearly seven times the size of what we have now, and will be a major feature at the heart of our village,’’ he says.

The centre will have a cafeand restaurant, a social lounge with a bar, Grand piano and pool tables, a dance and exercise floor, a library, gym, indoor swimming pool, spa pool and sauna, a movie room, crafts rooms, a ‘‘Menz shed,’’ outdoor dining, bowling green and petanque facilities.

The 15.5ha facility is fast moving from stage one to stage two as more of the villas become occupied. Stage two will see another 23 homes built, with many occupied before Christmas.

In total there will be 11 stages of development over the next seven years resulting in 250 architect designed energyefficient homes.

‘‘All the units are being built with energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in mind,’’ says Hamish. ‘‘This helps keeps down the cost of living for our residents.”

‘‘Every one of the 11 plans we have on offer has a wide range of features including ducted central heating, deeper walls with thicker insulation, thicker ceiling insulation, thermally-broken argon filled double glazing and many other features to increase residents energy efficiency making their homes warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer.”

The quality and fit out of the homes is to a high standard, and they vary in size from two to three bedroom villas, with floor areas from 94m2 to 182m2.

Another feature Hamish is proud of in future plans isthe building of a modern hospital and medical centre with comprehensive care facilities including memory care. ‘‘This will be a real benefit to our community,’’ he says.

The open day on March 25 runs from 10am to 3pm.
