Walk down memory lane - Cathedral Square

Cathedral Square is the geographical centre and heart of Christchurch. It was originally intended to be called Ridley Square, after the Protestant martyr Nicholas Ridley, but in an 1850 plan of central Christchurch, it was clearly marked as Cathedral Square. The Cathedral was built between 1864 and 1904.
