Christchurch police are investigating an assault in the car park of the 24-hour medical centre early.
A police spokesperson said the incident took place in the centre car park about 3.25am on Thursday. Police then arrived at the scene about 3.40am.
A witness told Chris Lynch Media a man was chased into the medical centre on Madras St.
They told Chris Lynch Media the centre was surrounded by a group of masked people for up to 30 minutes while the victim and staff waited inside for the police to arrive.
One person suffered injuries, but there was no further information available about their status, the spokesperson said.
Police are searching for the people involved who are understood to have fled the scene in vehicles.
Pegasus Health, which operates the medical centre, directed all further questions to police.
