A police car crashed into a tree after abandoning a pursuit in Christchurch on Tuesday morning.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, was due to appear in Christchurch District Court the same day on charges, including failing to stop when required and driving in a dangerous manner.
Officers observed a vehicle driving erratically on Emerson St, Sydenham, at 5:12am and pursued the vehicle after it failed to stop, said a police spokesman.
However, the pursuit was abandoned due to its speed and the police vehicle had a "minor crash into a tree".
No one was injured.
