Problems with noisy buses outside an Akaroa apartment block continue to fall on deaf ears.

Bruce Apartment body corporate has threatened legal action against the city council over large numbers of buses gathering outside the apartments on Beach Rd during cruise ship days in April.

The city council said at the time it had no concerns the placement of the buses was unlawful.

Now, a letter has been sent to the city council and the Banks Peninsula Community Board by its lawyer Prudence Steven.

The letter outlined issues with the buses like noise, visual impact and diesel fumes and requested information regarding the legality of having them park there without consultation with affected residents.

It also requested that body corporate representatives be given the opportunity to consult with the city council or community board members over parking activity before the commencement of the cruise ship season.

Ms Steven said she is now waiting to hear back from staff.

It is not the first run-in the body corporate has had with the city council.

The body corporate threatened legal action after the city council failed to gain resource consent for the placement of Portacom toilets on the Britomart Reserve, across from the apartments.

However, the toilets were later removed after the cruise ship season ended.
