'Intoxicated' man plays chicken with motorists on their way into work

Christchurch residents on their way into work this morning were met by a man who appeared to be intoxicated running into the path of traffic.

Police received reports the man was disrupting traffic at the intersection of Stanmore Rd and Cashel St in Linwood about 7.40am.

A police spokeswoman said the man's actions caused motorists travelling through the roundabout to stop or swerve to avoid him.

She said upon arrival the man appeared to be intoxicated.

He was then transported to his home by police.
