One person was injured and had to be freed from a vehicle by emergency services after a crash in Christchurch this morning.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said a single occupant vehicle crashed into a parked car on Ruru Rd in Linwood about 5.40am on Monday.

The person was trapped inside the vehicle before being cut out by two fire crews from the Christchurch city and Woolston fire stations.

The person received moderate injures in the crash.

St John New Zealand spokesman Gerard Campbell said they were transported to Christchurch Hospital.
