A person was injured after an e-scooter caught fire inside a motel unit in Christchurch on Wednesday night.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said three crews and St John were called to the incident on Lincoln Rd in Addington about 8.20pm.
He said crews initially thought the motel itself was on fire before discovering it was actually an e-scooter. It was unclear how it caught fire.
A St John spokesman said one person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
