A fire crew was called to the crash outside the Bargain Chemist at the Northwood Supa Centa on Main North Rd about 10am.
A photo of a Volkswagen Golf was posted on Facebook shortly after it happened, showing how it damaged the ANZ ATM outside the chemist.
Said Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Andrew Norris: "The ATM machine was damaged. That was just a fluke, I don't think it was the target."
He said there were minor injuries.
"One crew attended and they dealt with concerns around fuel being spilled, but it turned out to just be radiator coolant so they checked the building and left."
A Bargain Chemist staff member said there was a "slight bit of damage to the store but it was just a simple little accident."
One witness said the vehicle was driven by an older person.
"It was an older person but i would go as far as elderly," they said.
