A Banks Peninsula boat shed has failed to sell at auction after the bidding stopped at $150,000.

The Duvauchelle boat shed’s owners wanted more, and are open to offers until the next sale strategy is determined.

The boat shed, located next to 11 others on Onawe Flat Rd, is well-lined and has basic bench and storage areas.

Water is collected via the roof – but the shed has no bathroom or bedroom.

The current owners bought the property in 2008 and now live in Auckland. They had not been to the boat shed in 10 years so decided to sell it.

It is the second boat shed in the area to go under the hammer this year.

A similar-sized property on Seafield Rd went for $255,000 in March.

Bayleys listing agent Chris Mangels said there were five bidders in the room on Thursday – but they were “not going to own it” for $150,000.

Another auction date has not been set, but the owners remain open to offers.

Mangels said the boat shed would be a “valuable tack-on” for a buyer who already has an existing holiday home on Banks Peninsula.

He said the views on the north side of the deck are unobstructed.

“On the north side of the deck you’ve got an unobstructed view down the harbour. You are not looking at anybody else, it’s pretty cool,” he said.
