My Fathers Barbers founder Matt Brown has made international headlines with his new ‘She Is Not Your Rehab movement’ which focuses on helping men heal from past traumas and abuse, instead of projecting it onto their relationships.
Thousands of T-shirts with the phrase have been purchased to raise awareness about the movement.
It’s not the first time the movement has gained global attention recently after international sellers, including global trading giant Amazon, began replicating the T-shirts.
It led Mr Brown and his wife Sarah Brown to trademark the phrase in New Zealand, which is now registered and the couple are working with their lawyers to get the fake shirts off the websites.
“The main one we want them off is Amazon because it is actually a reputable site," said Mrs Brown
“All we can really do is push the message from our website and hopefully, people buy them.
"They are also ethically produced with us, the paint we use is non-toxic, we do everything in an environmentally-friendly way."
Mr Brown was approached by The Guardian for an interview late last month.
Mrs Brown says her husband has been humble about the international attention.
“Matt is not a person into the media, so he doesn’t really know much about these publications. I’m like, ‘omg, the guardian is such a big deal!’ and he’s like, ‘oh really?’.
"He wouldn’t even know the difference if it was The Guardian or The Herald.
“He just cares about getting the message out, that we can own our healing and that men can be more than what they have ever received, that’s what he is passionate about,” she said.
The couple were also interviewed by the UK’s Metro News.
