Snow closed Lewis Pass earlier on Wednesday.
The Hanmer Turnoff to Springs Junction, State Highway 7 was closed on Wednesday morning but reopened at about 2pm.
The road between Springfield and Arthur's Pass, State Highway 73 was closed for a period to towing vehicles.
Restrictions on SH73 were lifted at 1.15pm, said the NZ Transport Agency.The Lindis Pass, State Highway 9, was also was affected by snow and ice, but conditions eased later on Wednesday morning.
Wind and raised has lashed the region, with gale-force winds expected on Banks Peninsula and in Kaikoura.
