A 94-year-old is the latest victim to have rocks thrown through her windows in Christchurch - but police have still not caught those responsible.

Police have received at least five reports of rocks being thrown through windows in November, on top of the seven incidents reported in October, with one victim being a 94-year-old woman.

A police spokeswoman said the damage was mostly on Harewood Rd and Cotswold Ave in Bishopdale, but previously homes on Highsted, Veitches and Cavendish Rds were targeted.

The 94-year-old was at home watching television at night when a rock smashed through her lounge window near where she was sitting.

She got up to call the police and then a second rock came flying through the already broken window. She was not hurt in the incident.

The woman phoned a neighbour for help and not long after her neighbour arrived, a third rock was thrown at her kitchen window.

A rock was thrown through a window at Sandra Dougall's Highsted Rd property.

Sandra Dougall has also had a window smashed at her Highsted Rd house and said the week before, two rocks were thrown onto her roof.

Police are undertaking a series of “covert and overt operations” to try and catch the people responsible for the broken windows.

Senior Sergeant Roy Appley said police had not found the culprits, but said the operations will continue.

He said police are happy to receive anonymous information about the incidents. If you know anything, phone Crimestoppers - 0800 555 111.
