11,000 people take to the streets of Christchurch for City2Surf

About 11,000 keen runners and walkers took to the streets of Christchurch on Sunday for The Star Media Les Mills City2Surf.

Star Media regional manager Steve McCaughan said the event was one the most special in its 48-year history, given last year’s event was cancelled due to Covid-19.

First place went to Chris Dryden with a time of 42 min 23 sec. He was closely followed by Oska Inkster-Baynes and then Blair McWhirter.

The first woman across the line was Ruth Croft who completed the 14km event in a fantastic time of 48 min 10 sec.
