Five questions for West Taieri legend Dave McNeill

Favourite rugby memory?

Probably when we won our first senior title in 2014. That was one of the best ones. But also all the finals we’ve made — especially the country finals. They’ve been big highlights.

Hardest opponent?

Wayne Hagan, from Eastern. He was a tough No 8. You always knew you were coming up for a hard game against him.

What rugby player do you admire and why?

I’ve been told to say Kent Duncan, ha ha. Mr West Taieri. Put that in there. He goes all right.

What do you do to relax?

Not a lot. I play a bit of golf, and twilight cricket in summertime.

If Dave McNeill is cooking, what are we eating?

Probably a Japanese curry. I love that. Or a roast.
