LAST SEASON

127 starts, 8 wins, $133,660

''It was only an average season. A couple of them went all right, but a couple went a bit disappointing - they didn't come up like we thought they would. Princess Brook went very well but she was just a little bit weak running in those big races. With Dalwhinnie, things just didn't go right with her, to be fair. She had a few issues and had a bit of an issue earlier on this season, but she's over it now, and hopefully back to her best.''

THIS SEASON

Kennedy and his wife, Debbie, are trimming back their numbers to around 14 in work at their Wingatui Rd stables. Numbers might increase slightly over the summer when son Bailey returns from Sydney.

2YR-OLDS TO WATCH

''I've got a lovely 2yr-old by No Excuse Needed out of La Gem that I bought at the sales. She jumped out as a yearling. She's a lovely filly. I'm hoping to run her in an 800m 2yr-old race at Riccarton on October 10. She reminds me a lot of Lesley Brook - she was a No Excuse Needed as well. She's got the same temperament, the same attitude, and she's very similar to her. There's a nice Rock 'n' Pop filly out there - I only just broke her in, but she's a good-moving filly. The rest of the ones we have done are by Raise The Flags and later stallions.''

3YR-OLDS TO WATCH

''Jandles is a lovely filly. She had one run as a 2yr-old and ran fifth. She's ready to run out here on September 9. She's a Pearl Series bonus horse so we'll target that first up. Whether we carry on and go to the Canterbury Belle Stakes [September 17], we'll see what happens. There are some good fillies' races after Christmas and most fillies come right after Christmas, I reckon.''

OTHERS TO WATCH

Dalwhinnie will be aimed towards the New Zealand Cup (3200m) provided everything goes well between now and November 12. ''Princess Brook is looking like she could be that sort of horse as well''.

Kennedy has a ''lot of time'' for Landales Gold, while Macy was disappointing last start, but a blood test revealed she wasn't right on the day.

''I think she'll kick a goal this time around.''
