Trampoline exponents Ami Watson, of Christchurch, Jakob Anderson, of Invercargill and Amelie Waubke, of Christchurch, compete in the lower South Island championships at the Caledonian gym yesterday. 

The national qualifying event, hosted by Dunedin Trampoline Sports and Aspiring Gymsports, was held in the South for the first time in nearly 20 years and featured 85 gymnasts in action over two days.

Ice Gymsports (Rangiora) gymnast Lucy Lucas won the premier female 17 years and over title. 

Dunedin individual champions included Koby Stanton (9-10 years male), Rio Bennett (11-12 male), Charlotte Keenan (B grade 9-10 female), Mineeka Macshane-Camp (B grade 15-16 female), Alex Smith (B grade 13-14 male) and Evah Vorgers (B grade 13-14 female), while Bryn Dennis (B grade 11-12 male) and Ruby Riordan (B grade 11-12 female) won individual titles for the Te Anau-based Flite club.

Aspiring (Wānaka) gymnasts Holly Chaloner and Katelyn Key combined to win the 15-16 years mixed synchro title, while Dunedin pairings Catalina Costa Barnett and Jenny Newstead (B grade 17-plus mixed),  Eilana Smart and Macshane-Camp (B grade 15-16 mixed), Flite gymnasts Peyton Burgess and Harrison McIntosh (B grade 9-10 mixed) and Holly Hunter and Gracie McIntosh (8 and under mixed) also won synchro titles. 

Stanton, Dennis, Riordan, Hunter, Macshane-Camp, Alex Smith, Sienna Smith (Dunedin), Greta Scoullar (Aspiring), Madison Millar (Aspiring) and Lara Beams (Aspiring) won double mini-tramp titles.
