Four rising Otago para athletes and coaches have been recognised as future talents on the world stage.

John Marrable (table tennis), Dylan Lloyd (wheelchair rugby), Liam Wilson (para athletics) and Samantha Corne (coach, para snow sports) are among the 25 athletes, and 12 coaches, to be selected for the national Para Sport Collective.

The collective, created by Paralympics New Zealand and supported by ACC, brings together athletes and coaches who are on the verge of their high-performance careers to help them on the pathway to elite para sports.

Marrable, of Dunedin, Lloyd and Wilson, both of Mosgiel, and Corne, of Wanaka, will be involved in three national in-person camps and virtual sessions every two months starting in June.

They are in the second cohort of the collective, which provides a range of education around what it takes to be an elite athlete including nutrition, physiotherapy, anti-doping, classification and strength and conditioning.
