Rising star Kazuma Kobori is headed for the DP World Tour and the British Open this year.

Kobori has a massive weekend in prospect for the final event of the Australasian PGA Tour season at the on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula after being declared winner of the 2023-24 Order of Merit. The National Tournament will be played on the Greg Norman-designed Moonah course.

Kobori has an unassailable lead on the Order of Merit after his three Webex Player Series wins and a third placing in the NZPGA Championship last weekend.

The big plums on offer for his career are already guaranteed whatever happens this weekend.

The Kiwi rookie is assured of one of the three DP World Tour cards on offer for the top three Order of Merit finishers.

He also automatically qualifies for a prized place in the British Open at Royal Troon in July.

Also in his grasp is automatic qualification for the Alfred Dunhill Championship played at the St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns courses.

He can look forward to the exciting prospect of rubbing shoulders with the world’s best including Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith and so many others.

“I was just trying to get the DP World Tour card, then my manager called me after the NZ Open and said I had the Open spot sealed too,’’ Kobori said.

"That is a pretty cool bonus.
