‘The Fall Guy’ an ode to ’80s action

The Fall Guy is an entertaining, over-the-top action-comedy that manages to stick most of its landings.

The film itself is inspired by the 1980s television series of the same name created by Glen A. Larson, which starred Lee Majors as Colt Seavers.

The 2024 remake has Ryan Gosling starring as Colt Seavers, Emily Blunt as Jody Moreno and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Tom Ryder.

A star-studded cast of actors that all play their roles to a high standard and bring different elements to the table.

When I saw Ryan Gosling’s performance, I was pretty much sold on the film right then and there.

The story of the film is an ode to movies and the unsung heroes who make it all happen.

Colt Seavers suffers a freak accident and it leaves him with a broken back, a broken heart and a broken sense of self.

Once back to working, he is jolted out of his depressive stupor when producer Gail Meyer, played by Hannah Waddingham, calls him out of the blue to offer him the role of stunt double for Tom Ryder in his new film.

The plot thickens once Tom disappears and Colt is sent to hunt him down for the sake of the movie.

It sounds complicated but the action is enough to keep it fresh and interesting throughout.

The film has a terrific soundtrack full of ’80s hits, which I really enjoyed.

It plays on the nostalgia associated with action films of the same time period to great effect.

If you get the chance, I would recommend checking out The Fall Guy out.

If you’re the type of person that stays for post-credit scenes then you’ll enjoy some bonus stunt footage as well.
