Wānaka’s weather was on its best behaviour for day one of the Warbirds Over Wanaka air show yesterday.

The practice day attracted a crowd of about 15,000 across the day, as visitors were treated to an array of aircraft including Soviet-era Yakovlev-52 aerobatic displays and the much-anticipated highlight, a resurrected Mosquito combat aircraft.

Otago Daily Times photographer Gregor Richardson had his camera trained on the skies to capture the action.
