Car catches fire but occupants safe

Police and Wanaka volunteer fire service personnel attended a car fire  in Cardrona Valley Rd just south of Riverbank Rd yesterday afternoon.

Senior Fire Officer Travis Purnell said the car was travelling towards Wanaka about 3.30pm when it appeared to  overheat,  lost power and burst into flames. No-one was injured.  The three occupants moved the car off the road and grabbed their belongings before it caught fire, he said.
