Salvation Army Queenstown’s foodbank has received a timely boost, thanks to Remarkables Park’s New World.

Community ministries director Andrew Wilson (above) says they’re heavily reliant on community goodwill.

"Coming into winter, we start to see an increase in people needing the support of the foodbank to get them through the colder months."

While they were "getting a little nervous with how bare our shelves were looking", New World’s ‘Family2Family’ campaign had come to the rescue.

Wakatipu New World owner Warren McKenzie says over the campaign, which ran from April 8 to last Sunday, a total of 205 bags of food were donated to the local Sallies.

"It’s fantastic to see the support of the community for this cause."

Wilson says he’s "incredibly grateful" to those who backed the campaign, noting foodbank donations are always needed and are received year-round.
