A fire broke out at a Queenstown construction site on Saturday night.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said firefighters were called to a small blaze in a building on the Hawthorne Dr site, in Frankton, just before 10pm.

Two firefighters used a hose reel to put out the flames. The fire, which started on the middle floor, would not be investigated but would be marked as ‘‘suspicious’’.

Police also attended the scene, which was cleared by about 11pm.

No injuries were reported.
