Body confirmed as missing Dunedin man

Police have confirmed a body found in Lake Wakatipu was missing Dunedin man Fabian Dobson.

The body was located in Queenstown by members of the police dive squad this morning, police said.

Police issued a statement after 4pm now confirming the body had been identified as Mr Dobson.

The 27-year-old’s death has been referred to the Coroner.

Police extended their sympathies to Mr Dobson’s family and friends.

The Police National Dive Squad arrived in Queenstown yesterday afternoon and searched Lake Wakatipu this morning.

Police earlier said Mr Dobson was last seen early on Monday leaving Cowboys Bar, in Searle Lane, just before 2am.

He did not return to his accommodation, and has not been in touch with friends or family.

He was wearing a black and white jacket, cream coloured jeans, and a white baseball cap.
