It was all fun and games at the Totara School "Tent Night" last Friday despite the weather.

The annual event focused on bringing the past and present school community together, sharing in a group dinner, games and fun activities and spending the night in tents on the school grounds.

Principal Sandra Spekreijse said the rain earlier in the day and the cold weather meant that no-one stayed overnight in tents but that did not stop the community enjoying a "fantastic night".

"It gives us a chance to all come together, connect, share laughter and games," she said.

Staff, parents, extended whanau and past pupils attended.

After dinner pupils engaged in a wide range of games from playing cricket, football, flag footie, basketball and other fun activities.

"An annual highlight was again our disco run by one of our staff, Mrs Terry.

"As it grew dark, the children joined in several rounds of spotlight, involving . . . hiding around the school grounds, with others having to find them," she said.

Mrs Spekreijse said she was sure the "tents will be seen again" next year.
