Police are taking no further action on a complaint against the management of the Clyde Holiday Park.

A police spokeswoman said police spoke to the parties involved early last month, including the complainant and the Central Otago District Council, and advised them police would not be taking the matter further as there was insufficient evidence to do so.

The complaint centred on the alleged harassment and following of a 17-year-old girl by Clyde Holiday Park and Sporting Complex lessee Gary Ryan outside the grounds of the holiday park on December 29.

The mother of the girl, who did not wish to be named, said she had originally lodged a complaint with the council and had left it there but became frustrated with what she saw as a lack of action on the part of the council and went to police in February.

Lessees Mr Ryan and his wife Roslyn gained a 10-year lease on the council-owned holiday park in 2019 and came under scrutiny after a slew of complaints the ODT was made aware of over the New Year holiday period.

The council has since implemented a complaints procedure for the holiday park.
