One person has died after a crash in the lower Buller Gorge last night.
The single-vehicle crash happened on Lower Buller Gorge Rd, between Heaphys Rd and Bucklands Peak Rd, at about 6.15pm.
"Despite the efforts of first responders, the driver was unable to be revived and died at the scene," a police spokesperson said.
They were the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination and enquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
"Police are providing support to their whānau at this difficult time and a blessing of the crash scene is being arranged in consultation with next of kin," the spokesperson said.
