Police are looking for two men in connection with a car stolen from Maori Hill that was found dumped in Mosgiel yesterday.

The green Mazda Roadster was reported stolen from Lynwood Ave, Maori Hill, about noon yesterday and was seen being driven by two males, one believed to be a teenager, in Hagart Alexander Dr later in the afternoon.

A dog unit was dispatched to Irwin-Logan Dr where the car was found abandoned.

Police were able to track the "the two young chaps'' before losing the trail, Senior Sergeant Al Dickie, of Mosgiel said.

"It was being driven erratically and at speed,'' he said.

"The two fellows have decamped [and] a dog section was unable to track them.''

The first police saw of the car was when it was abandoned, Snr Sgt Dickie said.

The car was undamaged and was taken by police to a "secure location'' to be given a forensic examination, he said.

Snr Sgt Dickie was keen to hear from anyone who saw the car or might have any information about the people involved.

Mosgiel police (03) 489-0705, Crimestoppers 0800-555-111.
