The serious crash unit is investigating after a man was unable to be revived following a crash south of Dunedin last night.
A 70-year-old man was driving on a road near Momona at 6.20pm when his car went into a ditch.
The man was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
It appeared the driver had a medical episode and crashed into the ditch, Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said.
Police initially reported that a person had sustained serious injuries.
Centre Rd (State Highway 86) was closed for a time after the incident.
