Wanaka Wastebusters staff are inviting all their community backers and supporters to join them for a massive celebration of the organisation's 10th anniversary, today.

Environment Minister Nick Smith is a guest speaker and will officially open proceedings at a gala carnival, being held at the Wastebusters yard on Ballantyne Rd from 10am.

Queenstown Lakes Mayor Vanessa van Uden, founding Wastebusters committee members Sally Middleton and Jude Battson, along with current board chairman Ross McRobie will also be part of the formalities at the event.

Carnival organiser Ivy Wilmott said the gala would feature food stalls, games, events, and live music from Wanaka Beats DJs throughout the day.

Festivities will then shift to the Lake Wanaka Centre in the evening for an afterparty and concert by covers band Tie Dye.

"It's going to be awesome fun ... Day and night, we've got all the entertainment you need," Ms Wilmott said.

She urged people to come along and show their support for the pioneering Central Otago recycling flagship.

"We've invited everyone we can. It's going to be brilliant," she said.
