Arrests follow unprovoked attacks

Queenstown police have arrested two men in relation to a series of unprovoked attacks on tourists in Queenstown.

Detective Lisa Watt said the assaults happened on Shotover and Camp Sts about 10.10pm on Friday.

She said three separate groups of male tourists were punched and pushed to the ground by the two men.

Several of the victims suffered suspected broken noses.

It is unclear how many tourists were assaulted.

A St John spokeswoman said three men with minor injuries were taken to Lakes District Hospital on Friday night.

The alleged offenders, a 31-year-old from Christchurch and a 28-year-old from Timaru, have been remanded in custody and will reappear in the Invercargill District Court tomorrow.
