ODT reader Gareth West has taken advantage of the clear skies that Dunedin has experienced over the long weekend to capture this stunning image of an aurora, seen from the top of Mt Cargill.
Gareth says he took the shot around 1am today.
Otago Museum director Ian Griffin also got in on the night action, tweeting a stunning image of a star-laden sky.
