Rugby: Dunedin power to win over Alhambra

Dunedin proved too strong for Alhambra-Union at the North Ground, winning an open game of rugby 43-24.

Sharks loose forwards Gareth Evans and Matthew Vaai were instrumental in the victory.

Vaai was all power and made hard yards every time to took the ball to the line, while Evans' link play was top drawer. Both were rewarded with a second half try for their efforts.

In the other games, Taieri was nearly upset by Kaikorai, winning a 22-21 thriller at Bishopscourt.

Harbour dispatched Zingari-Richmond 39-7 at Montecillo, Pirates prevailed 37-35 against Green Island at Hancock Park and Southern remain unbeaten after beating University A 29-18 at the University Oval.
