Fullback Liam Edwards was the hero for Dunedin when he kicked a late penalty goal to give his team a narrow 36-33 win over University A in Dunedin premier club rugby today.
The scores were locked at 33-all when Edwards stepped up and kicked the ball between the posts.
He also showed his speed in scoring two tries and scored 21 of Dunedin's points in a dramatic semi-final at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
Dunedin will play Taieri in the final the stadium.
Taieri also had a few jitters before beating Southern 38-28.
Taieri led 25-10 at the break but Southern came back in the second spell to close the gap to two points, 25-23.
Wing Shannon Young shot through a gap with 15 minutes left to give Taieri a 10 point cushion. Hayden Parker kicked two late penalty goals to make the game safe.
Dunedin 36, University A 33; Taieri 38, Southern 28.
