Rugby: OBHS runs rampant against Dunstan

Otago Boys' went on the rampage to score 12 tries to beat Dunstan 72-0 at Carisbrook today.

Otago Boys' remains unbeaten and shares the lead in the Highlanders First XV competition with King's.

They share the lead after five rounds with 24 points are followed by Gore 21, Southland Boys' and Waitaki Boys' 20, Menzies College 10, Kavanagh College 9, John McGlashan and Dunstan 7, St Kevin's 5, South Otago 4, Verdon College 0.

Second five-eighth Sua Tanuvasa was in fine touch and scored 22 of Otago Boys' points with two tries and six conversions.

First five-eighth Aleki Morris and lock Bryan Dodge both scored two tries.

Halfback Josh Renton directed play efficiently and the loose trio made sure that Otago Boys' dominated the breakdown.

King's was equally dominant when it scored six tries to beat South Otago 38-5 in the main game at Carisbrook.

Lock Conor Kemp had an outstanding game and No 8 Petelo Faasee and hooker Dan Fowler both scored two tries.

The big upset of the day came when Kavanagh College drew with Gore 10-all to knock the Southland school off the top spot in the main game at Carisbrook.

St Kevin's gained its first win of the season when it beat Verdon College 31-5 at Oamaru.

Otago Boys' 72, Dunstan 0; King's 38, South Otago 5; Kavanagh College 10, Gore 10; Southland Boys' 57, John McGlashan 5; St Kevin's College 31, Verdon 5; Waitaki Boys' 34, Menzies College 5.
