Parry, the goaltender for both the Ice Blacks and the Dunedin Thunder, claimed the supreme award at the Blues evening at the Otago Museum.
His outstanding year on the ice included helping the Thunder stay competitive in the national ice hockey league, and being part of the New Zealand squad that shocked Australia at the Winter Games.
The other major Blues awards were presented to Otago rugby player Andrew Parata (Maori sportsperson of the year) and the Otago University Alpine Sports Club (club of the year).
Parata, Louise Clark (water polo), Estelle Baker (alpine sports), Rene Theelen (water polo), Mitchell Grant (squash), Andrew Haines (squash) and Emma McKeown (squash) all received Blues for outstanding contributions.
Other Blues were presented to Danielle Calnan (basketball), Anna Garcia (fencing), Claire George (underwater hockey), Rebecca Grant (triathlon), Kelly Grant (basketball), Grant Howie (ice skating), Katie Kenneally (swimming), Hayden Miller (basketball), Barbara Roy (athletics), Dougal Thorburn (mountain running) and James Williamson (cycling).
