Jamie Dwyer scored a hat-trick as Australia dismantled Pakistan 6-1 at the Owen G Glenn Champions Trophy hockey tournament today.
The Australians, with three wins from three, have qualified top of Pool A and will progress to the top-four play-offs along with Spain, who earlier today thrashed Great Britain 8-1.
Australia, who have won the past three Champions Trophy tournaments, got off to a slow start against Pakistan and led only 2-0 at halftime but a second-half blitz saw them comfortable victors.
Dwyer is one of two Australians nominated for the International Hockey Foundation player of the year award, the winner of which will be announced during the tournament at the North Harbour Hockey Stadium on Saturday. The other is Eddie Ockenden, who also scored.
