Burgess said, "The game ebbed and flowed a bit, both sides had their chances, but we were determined to make that final. I have been there before when we beat Waitakere 4-0 in 1999.
"The final was a great occasion then, and it will be again. I just want all our players to savour the experience.
"Now that Nelson is out it will be East Coast Bays at North Harbour Stadium, and that doesn't worry us. I have great memories of the ground. We did it in 1999 and we can do it again this year.
"The wet pitch was the same for both sides, and when it came down to it, I think we just wanted it more. The boys gave it everything they had."
Of his superb winning goal Burgess said, "The boys needed it to get back in the game - so I gave it a go. The keeper was bit off his line. So it was worth trying."
A sentiment echoed by the crowd that mobbed Technical's striker as he and his team-mates left the field to a standing ovation.
