Christchurch's Josh Atkins has won the fifth stage of the Tour of Southland, a 179km stage between Te Anau and the Crown Range, near Queenstown.
Atkins' victory came on the day yellow jersey wearer Hayden Roulston dramatically quit the tour because of illness. Roulston began the stage but pulled out soon after the start.
