New Zealand fell well short of an imposing England total in a rain-shortened women's one-day cricket match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval near Christchurch today.
Opener Charlotte Edwards scored her sixth one-day century in setting up the 60-run win under the Duckworth-Lewis method after New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl.
Edwards looked in complete control, her unbeaten 137 coming off 104 balls and including 20 fours, as England reached 219 for six off 26 overs.
In reply, New Zealand were all out for 164, chasing an intimidating target of 224. Amy Satterthwaite top scored with 69 off 61 balls, while medium pacer Anya Shrubsole was the pick of the England bowlers with 3-28 from her five overs.
The win gives England an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series after they won the opening ODI by five wickets on Thursday.
