Hard-hitting all-rounder Jacob Oram has been named as captain of the New Zealand squad to compete in the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes next month.
New Zealand are in a pool alongside Sri Lanka, Scotland and the top-seeded All Stars for the the 12-team, six-a-side tournament at Kowloon Cricket Club.
The New Zealand team is made up of Oram, Nathan McCullum, James Franklin, Luke Woodcock, Rob Nicol, Kieran Noema-Barnett and Derek de Boorder.
Oram said the squad was going into the tournament with high hopes of winning.
"A number of players have international experience but we also have a couple of young guys who will be representing their country for the first time.
"As shown in the HRV Cup, Kieran Noema-Barnett is one of the most destructive batsmen in the country so this format will certainly suit him. Derek de Boorder is a talented keeper who has the speed and agility needed to for this challenging format.
"The rest of the line up are good all-rounders and I'm confident we have the squad to win the tournament.''
The three day tournament begins on October 28.
