New Zealand Breakers star Thomas Abercrombie has been named the Australian National Basketball League's player of the week for round nine.
Abercrombie had a career-high 33 points, as well as adding 11 rebounds, two blocks and one assist as the Breakers held off the Melbourne Tigers in double-overtime at Auckland's North Shore Events Centre, 108-98.
Abercrombie made 10-of-18 shots from the field, including 6-of-9 from the perimeter, as well as 7-of-10 free throws.
He also made a crucial three-pointer late in the second extra period to give the Breakers a six-point lead and, ultimately, the victory.
Adelaide's Diamon Simpson can consider himself unlucky not to have won the weekly honours in round nine.
The American forward scored 22 points and added 10 rebounds and four assists as he led the Sixers to an upset on the road over Perth, 96-84.
Others considered for player of the week for round nine included, Chris Warren (Adelaide), Jamar Wilson (Cairns), Cameron Tragardh (Melbourne), Ronald Dorsey (Melbourne), Darryl Corletto (New Zealand), Matthew Knight (Perth), Tim Coenraad (Wollongong), Elvin Mims (Townsville) and Julian Khazzouh (Sydney).
