Milburn resident Ben Olsen looks in his fridge after it was raided yesterday by an intruder, believed to be escaped prisoner Stephen Uriah Maddren.
Three Milburn residents will double-check their doors are locked tonight after an early morning visit from a burglar believed to be escaped prisoner Stephen Uriah Maddren.

Narrowdale Rd resident Janine Trainor said the house she shares with Violet Kumar, Ben Olsen and her 9-year-old son Riley Trainor-Carr was entered about 1.30am yesterday.

''We were just in bed and these walls are quite thin and I heard the floorboards creaking,'' she said.

When she got up, she found a sliding door into her lounge unlocked and the fridge door open.

Several dogs were kept at the house and none had barked as the intruder came into the yard and house.

Mr Olsen said he thought he disturbed the intruder when he got up to check on the noise.

The intruder got away with some leftover KFC and a bottle of chocolate milk, he said.

Miss Trainor said it was unnerving that her house had been entered, especially with her young son there, but she was not afraid of Maddren.

''I have more anxiety about if a more dangerous prisoner could escape,'' she said.

Mr Olsen said he was concerned about what Maddren might do next.

''I wonder if he's going to escalate, if he can get into places and get away before the cops get here.

''I wonder if it's going to go to his head.''

When asked how she would prevent future break-ins, Miss Trainor said: ''Just making sure things are locked up''.

Police said they did not consider Maddren a danger to the public. However, people should not approach him, but instead call 111.
