Balclutha New World sold a $5.3 million winning ticket in the draw on Saturday night, the third Lotto Powerball struck this month, Lotteries' chief executive Wayne Pickup says.
The prize comprised $5 million for Powerball first division, and a $333,333 share of Lotto first division.
Balclutha New World duty manager Nicky Pullar said there were a few "depressed faces" after people checked their tickets at the store yesterday.
However, the Lotto counter was no busier than usual, probably because people checked their tickets at home, or in other centres, to maintain their privacy, she said.
New World owner Craig Broderick said the "massive" win had created a "buzz".
The store was "on a roll", having sold a Lotto second division winner last week.
He hoped the ticket-holder was a local, but it could be someone who was passing through.
If they were "discreet", he believed a local winner could keep secret their windfall.
Last night, a Lotto spokeswoman said the prize had not been claimed.
