Chile quake victims supported

The congregation at yesterday's World Day of Prayer ecumenical service in Cromwell were told their donations would help provide for continued rehabilitation in Chile, following the earthquake there in February last year.

This year's services were themed "How Many Loaves Have You?" and were prepared by the Chilean World day of Prayer committee.

Services were held around the world, with more than 300 held in New Zealand alone. The services are held at different churches each year.

The day is held in more than 170 countries, with prayers in more than 1000 languages, beginning at dawn in Tonga and finishing more than 40 hours later in Alaska.

About 40 attended the Cromwell service in the Cromwell Catholic Church. Soup and bread were served in the church hall after the service.
