A man has pleaded guilty to murdering a woman in a Melbourne hotel room, avoiding a trial which was due to start tomorrow.
The body of Elsa Janet Corp, 26, was found in the City Park Hotel, South Melbourne, in February last year.
David Patrick Clifford, 30, was charged with her murder and pleaded guilty in the Victorian Supreme Court today.
The couple had checked into the hotel the night before Ms Corp's body was found.
It was located by firefighters after they extinguished a small blaze in the room about 3am.
Clifford, of Lower Templestowe, will face a pre-sentence hearing on November 23.
