A young man is fighting for life after being punched in the head on the Gold Coast.
An argument broke out between the 20-year-old and another man at the intersection of Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Clifford Street about 11.30pm (AEST) on Thursday night.
"A man sustained a serious head injury after an alleged punch to the head. The victim was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital with a life threatening head injury," police said in a statement on Friday.
A 21-year-old man from Surfers Paradise has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is expected to face Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
