A Queenstown super home has been launched as a luxury holiday villa with a $10,000-a-night price tag.
Jagged Edge, which cost $10 million to build, is the latest resort property to join the five-figure-a-night luxury market. And the minimum booking is five nights.
Jessica Kirkpatrick, founder and chief executives of high-end holiday accommodation agent Luxe Houses, said guests are from all walks of life.
"Both local and international families, wealthy expats ... CEOs, bankers to actors.''
The Glenorchy Rd property sleeps six people. A nearby guest house sleeps another 10 for $5000 a night.
Other offerings at the high-end of the market include Aspen Grove's six-bedroom The Copper House, which sleeps 16. It was the first to quote stratospheric prices, at $20,000 a night.
Lodge at The Hills, at Sir Michael Hill's Arrowtown golf course, recently matched The Copper House, joining the $20,000-a-night club. It sleeps 12 guests.
Eichardt's Private Hotel will soon offer New Zealand's first $10,000 a night hotel suite.
Ms Kirkpatrick says: "Queenstown holds a lot of interest for travellers from the skifields to the jaw-dropping Lord of the Rings scenery and bustling foodies' heaven restaurant scene.
"It is adventurous or as laid back as you want it to be.''
Jagged Edge, 575sqm with three mezzanine bedrooms, was built for Julian McPike and completed in 2011.
Its roof is held up by 10 tension cables anchored into a schist-rock cliff. Its mezzanine floors are encased in 22mm-thick green-tinted glass, giving spectacular 270-degree views of the mountains and lake.
It features an infinity pool, grand piano, media room and wine cellar.
Luxe arranges everything from charter jets and helicopter transfers to celebrity chefs and butlers.
